Salt Lake City is experiencing somewhat of a boom in fine dining. Despite a lingering reputation as a place where fine wines or other alcoholic libations are not all that prominent, arrival of chain steakhouses such as Fleming’s Prime Steaks and Wine Bar are changing the dry landscape. Also popping up are brewpubs such as the Red Rock Brewing Company in Salt Lake City. Traditional, family-style eateries are still plentiful, of course, featuring old-time favorites like meatloaf or macaroni and cheese. Yet a wide assortment of ethnic fare from Afghan to Tibetan to Middle Eastern is available alongside German delis and Cajun places. Much of this diversity has been driven by tourism, particularly outdoor enthusiasts partaking of surrounding environs. Even for the sedentary, places like the Snake Creek Grill offer spectacular views. Dress for the most part is casual, although men still wear jackets at some enclaves. Service is invariably friendly at most dining spots.
